The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result. Hopefully, Davey Martinez and the Nationals might have found something to build upon moving forward. Sunday afternoon, the Nationals’ batting lineup changed, and there was a positive result. The Nationals’ walked away from the three-game series in Milwaukee without getting swept.

The Nationals scored eight runs on 14 hits, as the Nationals’ won 8-2. At the top of the fourth, with the help of Lane Thomas, Kiebert Ruiz, and some other support, the Nationals put up six runs which helped lead the Nationals to the win.

Keiber Ruiz, in his new spot at the top of the batting order, provided some necessary power by getting a nice RBI double. Juan Soto also joined in with the fun in the top of the fourth with his own RBI single. The Nationals scored six runs via eight consecutive hits, and two of those runs were scored through a safety squeeze. According to Elias Sports, this was the first time in Washington Nationals’ history that the team got back-to-back RBI bunts.

The Nationals now have a 14-38 record, with the Los Angeles Dodgers coming to town for a three-game series. Their road record is now standing at 9-14. Tomorrow, Trea Turner and Daniel Hudson will make their return to Nationals Park for the first time since being traded last season, and it’s going to be a great game!

According to Davey Martinez, one bad news coming out of the game was that DH Nelson Cruz suffered a sprained right ankle sliding into second base today and is currently “day-to-day.”

Monday night’s pitching matchup will be RHP Joan Adon (1-7, 6.38) vs. LHP Tyler Anderson (4-0, 4.04) first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. EDT. We will have our Game Notes two hours before the first pitch.
