We are keeping track of one of the favorite former Washington Nationals pitchers Max Scherzer even though he plays for the New York Mets. According to New York Mets manager Buck Showalter, the former Washington Nationals and three-time Cy Young award winner might start Sunday for the New York Mets as they face the Miami Marlins.

Showalter stated that he wants to talk to Scherzer to see how he feels after his first rehab start Tuesday night for Double-A Binghamton. Tuesday night, Scherzer struck out six while walking one and allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings, and throwing 65 pitches.

Back on May 18th, Max Scherzer removed himself in the sixth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. It was announced after the game that Scherzer had a “moderate to high-grade internal” oblique strain. His original timetable for return was six-to-eight weeks. However, at the 34-day mark of his recovery, he made his return to action with Double-A Binghamton Tuesday night against the Reading Fightin Phils.
