The Harrisburg Senators end their 2022 season at home with a 4-1 loss against the Akron RubberDucks.

Akron scored an unearned run in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. The Senators loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning but managed just a single run on a sacrifice fly. Akron finishes the day in third place, two games behind Erie and Bowie, with six games to play.

Tim Cate was the first of five pitchers Sunday afternoon for the Senators. Cate went five innings and allowed two earned runs while striking out six. Francys Peguero, Reid Schaller, and Jose Ferrer all pitched scoreless innings. Malvin Pena allowed a single run, a home run, in the eighth inning.

Omar Meregildo scored the lone Senators after a leadoff walk in the seventh inning. Darren Baker had the only extra-base hit, a double, in the eighth inning. Harrisburg went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left five runners on base.

The Senators finish their season in New Hampshire with six games against the Fisher Cats. The series begins Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. and continues through Saturday afternoon.
