Today’s GameNotes:

Even though it is almost certain that the Washington Nationals will not make the playoffs this year to defend their World Series title, the Nationals will shoot for a four-game series sweep. The Phillies are looking to work their way back into the playoff race.

What To Watch

Eric Fedde On The Mound

Tonight, the Washington Nationals will send Erick Fedde to the mound to help secure the four-game series sweep. Fedde has struggled in two earlier starts against the Phillies this season, going 0-2 with an 8.18 ERA.

However, in Fedde’s last start against the Miami Marlins, he pitched six scoreless innings, allowed only one hit, struck out six, and walked two.

In Fedde’s career stats against the Phillies is a bit bitter. He’s 2-3 with a 5.57 ERA in seven games, six of which were starts.

I Can Be Your Hero…

The Nationals won last night’s second game in the doubleheader with a walk-off, two-run home run from Yadiel Hernandez in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Even though Hernandez was the hero last, outfielder Andrew Stevenson has continued to play great baseball, helping him try to make the team in 2021.

Last night in the nightcap, he had two hits and two RBI’s. Currently, Stevenson has had a total of seven RBI’s and has a batting average of .320 and an OPS of .934

There’s No Place Like Home?

The Washington Nationals haven’t been so successful playing at Nationals Park this season. Currently, the Nationals are 12-16, and the Nationals have strung together a nice winning streak by winning a total of four games in a row, which is the first time that has happened in 2020.
