Goodbye A-Rod on ESPN’s flagship baseball program: Sunday Night Baseball.

According to the New York Post, Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN will be featuring a brand new team. Andrew Marchand is reporting that there will be a new Sunday Night Baseball team that will consist of YES’ David Cone and Eduardo Perez as analysts, while Karl Ravech will be the play-by-player. Cone is expected to stay at YES, though his schedule will be reduced. Additionally, the New York Post has learned that longtime ESPN Sunday Night Baseball reporter Buster Olney’s role on the main telecast is in question.

Additionally, the New York Post also reported that Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez will host a joint broadcast similar to the “Manningcast,” that ESPN has on Monday Night Football. “The exact format of the “Kay-Rod” broadcasts has not been finalized but presumably will include guests, just like Peyton and Eli. ESPN has been doing alternative ‘Megacasts’ for years, so it has a wide variety of choices to pick out of its bag. The Kay-Rodriguez duo will do somewhere between 10-12 games. ESPN has about 25 weeks of ‘Sunday Night Baseball.'”

ESPN also could have the new first round of the playoffs, if that is agreed upon between the players and owners in a new collective bargaining agreement. Presumably, Kay and Rodriguez would call a playoff series.

I’m very honored to be a part of this great team of professionals and become part of the ESPN family. https://t.co/hir6eIUHpS
