Today, ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball schedule was released, and there was one notable team missing on the schedule: the 2019 World Series Champions: The Washington Nationals.
ESPN’s signature Major League Baseball franchise – will return for its 32nd season in 2021, featuring the game’s biggest superstars in action.
Some of the matchups that will be broadcasted on ESPN include the New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies, the St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres, and TWO Boston Redsox vs. New York Yankees games, and two New York Mets vs. New York Yankees series.
While we get why the New York Yankees get maximum exposure on ESPN, we aren’t sure why the producers couldn’t schedule at least one game featuring the 2019 World Series Nationals.
Sunday Night Baseball will showcase 3 out of the 5 NL East teams. The Phillies will be on Sunday Night Baseball twice, the Atlanta Braves four times, and the New York Mets will be on Sunday Night Baseball will also appear four times.
ESPN will broadcast exclusively Major League Baseball’s opening night on April 1st, featuring the New York Mets at the Washington Nationals in Washington D.C.
However, this does not excuse the fact that the Nationals so far hasn’t been scheduled one Sunday Night Baseball game on the network and should be fixed ASAP. The Washington Nationals should be featured with a Sunday Night Game as they have one of the most exciting baseball players: Juan Soto. They also have a powerhouse pitching rotation with Max Scherzer (3-time Cy-Young Award Winner), Stephen Strasburg ( Overall First pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, three-time All-Star and the 2019 World Series MVP), and Patrick Corbin.
The “defending World Series Champions:” LA Dodgers will be featured on Sunday Night Baseball on April 25th when they face the San Deigo Padres.
