With very little going on in terms of news out of baseball and the Washington Nationals, we thought it would be fun to relive five memorable Washington Nationals playoff moments. This list could just be a big list of the best moments from 2019, however, there are some other great Nationals Playoff moments.

We hope that you enjoy this quick trip down memory lane. What are some of your memorable Washington Nationals playoff moments?

Washington Nationals Win the 2019 World Series; 2019 Game 7 of the World Series

No Washington Nationals playoff list as of now can not be without the moment that the Washington Nationals won the 2019 World Series in Game 7 in Houston, Texas. Nationals fans gathered around the DMV and beyond to celebrate the franchise’s first-ever World Series win. Personally, I was at the official watch party at Nationals Park celebrating with a lot of other Washington Nationals fans. It was so much fun and something that I can’t wait to happen again. Let’s hope that the next time the Nationals win the World Series it will be in front of a packed Nationals Park because that would be epic!

Howie Kendrick Grand Slam; 2019 Game 5 of the National League Divison Series

Howie Kendrick hit a HUGE grand slam to put the Nationals ahead in extra innings against the Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLDS, which can be considered one of the greatest playoff moments of the Washington Nationals. No Washington Nationals team was able to advance to the NLCS until 2019, and Howie Kendrick’s grand slam made that possible.

The 18-Inning Game; 2014 Game 2 of the National League Division Series

Even though the Nationals lost the game and the series against the eventual World Series Winners, the San Fransico Giants, Game 2 of the 2014 National League Division Series at Nationals park was one for the ages. This game lasted 18 innings, and the game lasted six hours and 23 minutes. The Giants ended up winning the game 2-1 and then knocked out the Washington Nationals in the series. What was extremely heartbreaking was the fact the Nationals were one out away from victory when then Pablo Sandoval doubled in the tying run with two out in the top of the ninth. Buster Posey tried to score the go-ahead run on the play, but he was thrown out at the plate. It would take another full game to decide it. Either way, this game was a lot of fun to watch and boy was it cold outside!

The Jasyon Werth Walk Off Homerun; 20212 Game 5 of the National League Division Series

This moment lives near and dear to my heart as I was at the stadium and this was the first time ever for me that I was part of a moment like this. I not only remember what the stadium sounded and felt like when Werth hit that walk off homerun, I also remember walking out of the stadium with fans screaming and chanting “Lets Go Nationals.” It was at that point that I realized that baseball was back in Washington D.C. and it was here to stay.

Bottom of the Eighth Juan Soto Double; 2019 Wild Card Game

Even though, I wasn’t at this game, whenever I see this replay serious chills run down my spine over and over. 2019 wouldn’t have been the magical year without Juan Soto’s amazing hit in the bottom of the eight to give the Nationals the lead and propel them to the franchise’s first ever World series.
