After a thrilling win last night at Nationals Park, the Washington Nationals look to continue winning this afternoon as they face the New York Mets with the first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. EDT. The Nationals will send RHP Brad Lord to the mound and will face RHP Clay Holmes for the New York Mets.
Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, the Nationals rallied for a dramatic 5-4 win over the Mets on Friday night, capped by James Wood’s first career walk-off hit. With two outs and CJ Abrams on first, Wood lined a single up the middle off A.J. Minter, and Abrams raced all the way home from first, sliding in safely to ignite a wild celebration at Nationals Park. It was the Nationals’ first walk-off victory of the season and their first since August 10, 2024, against the Angels. The win snapped New York’s seven-game winning streak and showcased the resilience of this young Nationals team, which had earlier turned a rare triple play and battled back after losing a late lead.
