Game Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The Washington Nationals lost game two of their weekend series against the New York Mets by a score of 2-0. An early home run surrendered by Brad Lord proved to be the difference in a game defined by rain delays and bullpens.

Lord took the mound for Washington, but it was on a weird schedule. After a brief delay pregame and a slightly longer break in the bottom of the first due to rain, the Mets struck in the top of the second inning. Jesse Winker ended an eight-pitch at-bat with a single, setting the stage for Francisco Alvarez, who launched a two-run homer to right field off a slider from Nationals starter Brad Lord, giving the Mets a 2-0 lead. Lord pitched four innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs, taking the loss to 0-3 on the season.
