BUFFALO, NY - For six innings, the Rochester Red Wings and Bisons were locked in a scoreless pitching duel! Andrew Alvarez pitched five excellent shutout innings, giving up five hits and recording six strikeouts. Jack Sinclair pitched the 6th and 7th innings, giving up no runs and no hits while striking out four. At the top of the 7th, the Red Wings had two outs, and no one was on base. Andrew Knizner and Jackson Cluff had back-to-back singles.

With two outs, Darren Baker had a single to left field, giving the Red Wings a 1-0 lead. Joan Adon came in to pitch the 8th, gave up a two-run homer to Joey Loperfido, and gave the Bisons a 2-1 lead after eight innings. In the 9th, deja vu struck. Knizner came to bat again with two outs and reached first base on an error. Jackson Cluff drew a walk. Once again, Darren Baker came up with two outs and the same runners on base. And again, Baker knocked in the tying run, eventually putting the game into extra innings.

Baker’s second RBI tied the game at two! J.T. Arruda was substituted for defense in the 9th inning. With one out and the ghost runner, Millas, at second base, Arruda hit an infield single to third, which moved Millas to third. Pinckney struck out, and the Wings still had runners at first and third with two outs when Rob Hassell III delivered a base hit, giving the Wings a 3-2 lead.

The Bisons tied the game in the bottom of the tenth. In the top of the 11th, the first batter of the inning, Knizner, singled, scoring Yepez from second. Cluff then laid down a bunt for a hit, his third hit of the night. The Bisons struck out the next two batters and intentionally walked Brady House to pitch to J.T. Arruda. He hit a grand slam to give the Wings a commanding 8-3 lead. The Bisons scored one run in the bottom of the inning, making the final score 8-4. Baker, Arruda, Hassell, and Knizner all had multi-hit games with two hits apiece, and Cluff had one with three hits.

The Red Wings and Bisons play a doubleheader Wednesday at 3:35. Seth Shuman will make his AAA debut starting the first game, and Konnor Pilkington will start the second.
